La Punta (Punta Chame) is one of the best spots for kite surfing in Panama, about 80 km drive (1h 15 minutes) from Panama City. Punta Chame is where the main scene of kitesurfing takes place in Panama. It is shaped as a 8Km long strap of land about 500M wide. The spot is located almost at the tip of the land strap.During the summer there is wind all day, this means that you can have two kiting sessions in one day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Punta Chame is a big beach great for beginners because winds always come from N-NE and is side- onshore. This means that if there are any problems you'll always end up back on the beach and not out to sea. There are places to stay, a restaurant, a kite club and handy facilities. The sea gets a bit choppy with strong wind. Low tide reveals up to 150 meter of sand beach which makes it perfect safe place to practice and learn new tricks. At high tide there is no space to launch (ony one hour a day)The weather is hot and the water is warm. You won't need a wet suit, just remember your sunscreen.
