Huge Lagoon on next to the village "Sur Maisrah". Sandy beach all the way with some rocks here and there. Ideal for beginners and freestyle training.

Asphalted road until the village "Sur Masirah". From there follow the dirt roads towards the GPS-point.
Access able with a normal car. 4x4 is not required.

Beach rules:

Other Hints: Offshore winds but more than enough shallow area to get lost. Worse case our permanent operating rescue boat will pick you up. Sign up for rescue service /centre services before you need it! Pure sand underground - no rocks. Two reef island in the lagoon with some shells around. So if you are still walking a lot with your kite, shoes might be an idea, or just stay away in the reamining several square km shallow area.

Weather:

Weather in summer is mainly influenced by the monsoon. So temperatures between May and September do not exceed 30 degrees - even if Oman hat Temperatures above the upper 40s in summer. water is colder then you would expect but still only need a shorty on colder days.

Wind details:

Winds on Masirah are pretty strong, especially in peak season Jun-Aug 20 knots + is more or less guaranteed. sideshore from about noon and normally 25-30 knots. Small kites are required, up to 45 knots is possible as well.

Water details:

The lagoon is protected by a long sand bank. Which means there flat water all the time, independent of the wind direction. Up to the tide there is between 3 and up to 12 Square kilometres shallow area. No waves.

Generally Masirah is one of the best places in the world to discover the real spirit of Oman and the traditional middle east.
It is worth to get into this uniqe spirit.

Night scene:

Masirah has no night life in the sense of "night life".
If you are looking for parties, Masirah is definetely the wrong destination.

Masirah is the second biggest nesting area for Loggerhead turtles.
But ask someone to go with you. Turtles are really shy and you have to know how you should get in touch with them.
