This is the best & easiest to get to spot in Nicaragua. The beach is clean, sandy, wide open, has plenty of restaurants. It also gets the very strongest winds. The views of the twin volcanic island of Ometepe are second to none.

Wind details:
The wind blows East North Easterly year round with the most consistent strong winds being between December and March when a local effect called the Papagayo kicks in. The Papagayo is a result of the regular North East trade wind getting squeezed through and amplified as it passes the valley in which lies Lake Nicaragua. It's effect are only present in the lee of the lake.
