La Palmyre is a sandy beach spot in the bay of "Bonne Anse" created by the port's spit. The 2.5x2.5 km bay offers shallow water conditions ideal for beginners. Wind usually blows 13 to 30 knots, good for freestyle in the lagoon (bay). The nearby spot "Cote Sauvage" can bring very good wave riding on big days.

Being on the ocean and pretty north, temperatures are only warm in summer and cold in winter. In summer you can ride with boardshorts and lycra, but a shortie can be nice. Thick wetsuit in winter.

last year july we went to palmyre for kitesurfing. The spot is nice to see, and the atmosphere was good. but the wind didn't want to blow. In one week there was only 1 day we could surf. We asked other people there and they said that its often like that during summer.
Another thing to keep in mind is the currency, Le bonne Anse is a lagoon and with high tide it fills with wather, then its ok to surf. But when low tide started, (the wind was blowing in direction of te exit of the lagoon)there was not enough presure anymore to go upwind. the currency is very strong. So I had to walk a long way back. when you are beginner its maybe not so safe to go surfing with low tide there.
