Situated 3 kilometers north of Canoa Quebrada, a fishers village and ex hippie community in the Cearà state, Boca do Rio is one of the most scenic brazilian spots.
This beautiful place, with many “jangadas” (the local wooden fishing boats) sailing on the ocean, is ideal for beginners.
There is nothing around, it´s really just a place to go kiting: the river Iguaipè drains into the sea and as the tide goes down the water gets flat and at some point very shallow. Less experienced kiters can go downwind in the large and calm rivermouth and then walk back upwind till the sea shore.

I've been here a couple of days in February (not the most windy season) and managed to go kiting one day renting all the equipment in loco (there are a few kite schools that offer rental service for 60 euros, provided that your level is good enough not to crash anything). In the afternoon the wind got strong enough to ride a 14 and bump and jump enough to have fun! The spot is beautifull and Canoa is a nice lively village, definitely to come back one day.

the wind season starts end of july and ends mid january.nice huge flatwaterspot, the rivermouth rio jagaribe,at lowtide. choppy shorebreak in canoa quebrada.use the kitezone at the end of village.by hightide narrow beach but always kiteable ! situated next to the equator, canoa quebrada offers warm weather conditions 365 days a year. the small tourist village is well known by local and italian tourism. on weekends, the party locations in the centre are getting crowded. on sundays, the beach gets busy at midnight for the famous reggae party - unique! through the week it’s more calm and you can enjoy an excellent meal at one of the various argentinean, italian or brazilian restaurants for little money.
