Kiter in Famara Beach (Lanzarote)

Famara Beach is located on the north-western coast of Lanzarote, Canary Islands.It is a 5km beach (of which the last 3kms are kitesurfing allowed area) Fully sanded beach with clear blue waters and side-on winds from the North East blowing through the Alyseus wind session which runs form March til mid November.The spot is very uncrowded and offers lots of different conditions depending on the time of the wind session you go. Great & safe spot for beginner as well as for experienced riders looking for awsome waves to be riden. Long stretches of sand and flat water, beach breaks, warm waters, few kiters on the beach & lots of sun, makes Famara the ideal Kitesurfing spot for all levels.

Directions:

Once you arrive to Arrecife Airport, a taxi (or the car you have rented) will take you to Caleta de Famara in about 25 minutes. The directions is out of the airport towards arrecife, before getting to arrecife get deviation to "circunvalacion" and then follow the road to San Bartolomé. Once you cross the town of San Bartolome, you will hit a big traffic circle with a white monument and then take your right to Teguise. Before arriving to teguise take deviation on the left to Caleta de Famara.

Beach rules:

The Beach is 5 kms long but the first 2 kms are reserved for surf schools and sunbathers. No kitesurfing is allowed at the first 2 kms of the beach. You will have to drive up the hill to the top of the buingallows and on the last 3 kms of the beach, kitesurfing is allowed and is paradise!

When the winds does not blow, there is ussually great surfing conditions so surfing is one of the best options. Other than surfing, there are many great spots to visit on the island (Volcanic National Park, Mirador del Rio, Fundacion Cesar Manrique, The vinyards on the island, the beaches on the south and even a day long trip to the samll neighbouring island of La Graciosa)

Night scene:

Famara is a small fisherman town but still has many restaurants and terraces to chill out after kite session. On fridays and Sundays there are live concerts on "La Bartola".

If you are looking for harder partying and more clubs/discos, Puerto del Carmen (a touris area) is full of restaurants, pubs, discos and foreigners vacationing and partying everyday of the week. Puerto del Carmen is 20 minutes by car from Famara.
