Cauipe lagoon is a perfect place to improve skills. shallow and calm water, beautiful place sand dunes, beach and lagoon. The beach has a pretty good area to launch and land the kite, no concrete, no buildings, just sand and coconuts trees. Only some cars can be park around the lagoon. Sand on the northern top and grass and barracas on the South side. Weekends can get really crowded with locals, there are windsurfers too and on the shores many people, swimmers and bathers. During the week there's no people, only kiters.

From Cumbuco there are three ways: on the beach with a buggy or 4x4 (7km), through the road crossing the dunes, but very bad paved and through the road at the bifurcation (not signed) some kms after the entrance to Lagoa de Banana.

Beach rules:

In Cauipe are animals, at the north tip, where animals defecate can be bacteria and therefore can represent a danger to the skin. Be aware of where you sit, step or lay. The lagoon can be very pact, so be aware and respectful to other kiters and keep distance, specially to beginners.

Weather:

The weather is good during the whole year with constant winds. There is no off-season here. No wetsuit necessary. Sunny and warm. Water 29°C and air 32°C. From July to January no or minimal rain, from February April rainy season. But only rains shortly each day.

The wind (Tradewind and Thermal component) is good to fly with an 12-16 sqm kite most part of the year. Best winds from July to January, strongest around September. About 100% from July to January and 65% from February to June.

Water details:

Clean, perfect flat water. Some areas can be really shallow. Best hours, early from 8-11 am and later at 4-5 pm when people start to leave (and wind too). At the ocean side waves. Few people during off season (February until September). On the early hours beginners are having courses which use the lagoon on the last steps of kite teaching. There are given kite lessons by locals too. Good place to learn your first rides but be careful with the kite traffic.
