Don't ride too far east in the bird sanctuary reserve and stay out of the boating channels (about half a mile south and north of the island).

During summer the SSW thermal wind blows, which is the best direction here. Fall to spring mainly NE winds with cold fronts. After 2-3 days with SW winds, the wind switches to West winds, which don't work well here.
On the water
Water details:Big open space with knee to chest deep water. Small chop to super flat (depending on wind direction and tide). Sandy bottom, no shoes needed. Look out for the boating channels and the boats.
