Sandwich Bay

At high tide it's a rough shingle beach which goes to soft sand 2 hours after high tide. The beach runs north/south and is 2km long (north end restricted as it's a bird sanctuary). Low tide unlimited space and no crowds, high tide good space but some spiny plants.

The North end is a bird sanctuary, do not enter. Private estate £3-5 per car.

Weather:

The beach open all year, water temp drops in the winter (shallow English Channel). Shorty in summer, 5/3 wetsuit in winter.

Wind conditions

Wind details:

Works on N, S ,NE, SE, E wind. Offers a beach when the prevailing SW/W winds are not about. Suffers early morning and evening glass offs.

On the water

Water details:

The water is generally flat with lots of space. At high tide the water is deep, but 2 hours after high tide it's shallow to the horizon.
