Large expanse of shallow water. This spot is excellent for learning. You need to avoid tides over 1.8m if you are beginner to intermediate as it is too deep and choppy to get away from the beach. Small launch when tide is in but lotts of room when sand banks are exposed. This beach works from N to S as long as there is no West in the wind.
Beware small cluster of rocks about 250m North of launch.

Trip from town:snap
• Car: from Brisbane or the Airport take the Gateway Motorway North towards the Sunshine Coast. About 15 minutes north of the Airport take the Deagon Deviation turn off in the Right lane. At the end of the Deviation and before crossing the bridge to Redcliffe turn right into Brighton.
• Public transport: Take the Sandgate line from the city, then the redcliffe bus or just walk to the beach.
No kite leash no ride.

This is a man-made beach between to groynes of rock and concrete.
Parking is limited
Sand (above high water mark) is excellent and non-cloying.
As with all of Sandgate / Brighton with a very Very wide mudflat, time is limited to say 2 hours either side of high tide, unless you fancy a half-mile walk to the water.
Or use the mudflat-time to practice the kiting part, rather than the surfing part.
The mudflats are clear of rocks and litter, save for the five metres closest to the shore
Approx 5 miles away across deep water is Redcliffe peninsula. Have not seen anyone ever make the crossing.
Cheers and tight-strings
